Fiscal Responsibility

To say that the economic conditions of our Maryland are in shambles would be a gross understatement.  Once again we find ourselves facing a deficit of over $1.7B over the next 2 years and spending that currently cannot be controlled.

It must be clearly understood that Maryland does not have a revenue problem. We collect more than enough money from business and the citizenry of Maryland.  We must control the spending!

We will no longer consider taxes as a resource that government can use to meet their increased pork barrel projects or limited serving programs, but will refer to them as what they are – our family funds!

These family funds are nothing less than the earned dollars and cents of Maryland Citizens that they need to save for their children’s future, put gas in their cars, food in the pantry, payment for mortgages and rent, personal  retirement, investment and savings.

                  a.       We must determine the essential services that government should fund

b.      We must develop bi-partisan consensus on a working definition of pork

c.       We must establish a MD TABOR or tax payers bill of rights that will enable the citizens of Maryland to have a direct voice when state government desires to take more of their family funds from their paycheck before it is actually taken

d.      We must and can find ways to reward government agencies that find ways to become more efficient and do more with less

e.       Take more of a business approach and develop a Six Sigma concept for the state government and train “Green Belt” champions that do nothing but find ways to create more efficient state government and year over year decrease spending.  (In fact look to consider financial rewards each year money is returned to Maryland citizens in the form of rebates)
